-What are the major themes in this piece? are there minor themes as well? is there any kind of "subtext" in the essay? what kind of murmurs run below the surface?
from this story i could pick up on 2 major themes. one major concept that showed itself throughout was the authors love of birds, specifically a borrowing owl. she was very passionate about them and claimed some of the local owls as her own. the other concept mentioned, though only really mentioned here and there with subtle markers all around, was her life as a Mormon. with hints when driving around Utah of the churches and when talking about her grandma. there was also a combination of the two when she got angry about owls being move from there natural environment and gave gun club members the finger while her mother was with her. this gesture was against her religion and the mother apologized to the members.
I haven't finishing reading yet. But from the first glimpse, it seems as if there are many themes. The writer seems like writing something randomly. oh, it's hard to understand....
