Read like a Writer:The Summer Day by Mary Oliver

The writer structures the poem like an hourglass. it starts out with a broad question "Who made the world?" then it narrows down to a specific image of a grasshopper and her running through a field. then it zooms back out to ask the question "what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" the beginning asks it's question to ask you about creation, and how things started. when it zooms in it shows what things that the writer is doing with her life specifically. it ends with a question to the reader to have them ask themselves what they can do with there life. even if it's as simple as enjoying nature out in a field.
